The Puget Sound Business Journal 40 Under 40 spotlights the top business leaders under the age of 40 who excel in their industry and show dynamic leadership. Our very own company President Billy Pettit is a member of the 2017 40 Under 40 class and we think its a well deserved honor for him.
Pettit co-founded Pillar Properties with just two team members and 21 apartment units. Today the company has grown to include 1,500 apartment units at seven Puget Sound locations with 75 team members. That's a lot of growth in under 10 years! Pettit leads the company with a focus on disrupting the status quo whenever he can.
"One of the things I appreciate most about our team is that we always challenging the way we do things on both the operations and development side of our business," says Pettit.
One of the game changers for Pillar Properties was the focus on Quietly Awesome. Pettit says it started as a vision for the residential experience one could expect when living in a Pillar community but it quickly evolved into much, much more.
"Today, I like to say: “Quietly Awesome at all levels, across all aspects of our business and with every engagement.” These two words serve as the cornerstone for the culture we have built at Pillar. In essence, Quietly Awesome defines who we are, what we do and why we do it," he says.
Pettit and the other Puget Sound Business Journal honorees were recognized at the 40 Under 40 ceremony in downtown Seattle. Congratulations to Billy and all the honorees this year!
